Keepnook — Terms of Service

These terms cover Keepnook — the app, and this website. They are short because there is not much to agree to: there is no account and no Keepnook server holding your work. There is one thing you can buy, and it is described below. Using Keepnook means you accept them.

What Keepnook is

Keepnook is a notebook app you install on your iPhone or iPad. Your notebooks are stored on the device you make them on. There is no account and no sign-in, nothing is uploaded, and there is no Keepnook server to hold, read or lose what you make. Two devices running Keepnook know nothing about each other. If you use Keepnook in a web browser instead, the same is true of that computer: your notebooks are in the browser's own storage, and clearing the site's data deletes them.

The privacy policy describes what leaves your device — a crash report, if you leave them switched on, and the check that says whether you have a subscription — and what never does. Your notebooks are in the second group.

What it costs

Keepnook is free to install, and everything you have already made is yours whatever you pay. You can write in it, draw in it, add photographs, export a backup and import one back without paying anything, for as long as you keep the app.

Keepnook Plus is a subscription, bought inside the app through Apple's App Store. It does four things and nothing else:

• it lifts the limit on how many notebooks you can make;
• it opens every sticker set, washi tape, paper and illustrated pack in the app;
• it lets you save a page as a picture at print quality;
• it lets you take the Keepnook wordmark off a picture you save.

The price, the length of a subscription and the currency are shown to you by the App Store before you confirm, in your own region's terms. Payment is taken by Apple, not by us — we never see a card number and there is nothing here that could store one. A subscription renews itself until you cancel it, which you can do at any time in your App Store settings.

A subscription can never take away what you have made. If it lapses, every notebook, page, drawing and photograph stays exactly where it is, and you can go on opening, editing, exporting and keeping all of it. What ends is the ability to make new notebooks past the free limit and to use content you had not already put on a page.

Backing up is free and always will be. Exporting your library to a file and importing one back are never behind a price — it is the only copy of your work there is, and charging for it is not a thing we will do.

What you make is yours

Your notebooks, drawings, photographs and words belong to you. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to use them, and none is needed: they are on your device, they are not uploaded, and there is no copy of them anywhere we could reach.

That also means there is nothing here to moderate, review or take down. What you put in your notebook is between you and your notebook, and it is your responsibility — including that you have the right to use any photograph you add.

Your work, and the one copy of it

Everything Keepnook saves is stored on the device. That has an edge worth stating plainly rather than burying:

• The only copy that can outlive the device is the backup file you write yourself — Where your data lives → Export a backup. Keepnook has no sync and keeps no copy anywhere else.
• We cannot recover your data for anybody, ever. There is nothing on a server to restore from. If the device is lost, wiped or the app is deleted, the exported file is the only answer, and it is the only one there is.
• Deleting Keepnook deletes what it has saved. That is final.

Please make a backup, and keep it somewhere you are happy with. Once the file leaves Keepnook it is an ordinary file, and anyone who can read it can read your notebooks.

Using Keepnook

You may use Keepnook on the devices you own, for anything you like — it is a notebook. What you may not do is take the app apart to redistribute it, sell it, or pass it off as something else.

Keepnook is downloaded from Apple's App Store, and Apple's own terms for the apps you download there apply alongside these. Apple does not make Keepnook and is not responsible for it.

Age

Keepnook has no account, no sign-up, no advertising, no tracking, and no way for one user of Keepnook to see or contact another. It collects nothing about anyone, of any age. A subscription is bought through the App Store under whatever account is signed in there, and Keepnook is not told whose it is.

No warranty

Keepnook is provided as it is. It is written carefully and tested, but no software is free of faults, and nothing here is a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or right for any particular purpose of yours.

Some places give you consumer rights that cannot be signed away. Nothing in these terms takes those away from you.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, the publisher of Keepnook is not liable for lost or damaged work, lost time, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using — or not being able to use — Keepnook.

That is the ordinary clause, and here is the ordinary precaution that goes with it: your notebooks live on one device, and the backup file you export is the only copy that can survive it. Make one.

Changes to these terms

If the terms change, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes. That is the same undertaking the privacy policy makes, and it is made the same way: the page is the record, and the date on it is what tells you whether you have read the current one.
